Accessibility and universal design

We offer a broad range of services relating to universal design and accessibility.

ADA Assessments

Pre-litigation (sub rosa)

Prelitigation surveys are preliminary studies intended to get civil rights attorneys information they need to determine quality of a particular case. Since the surveys are sub rosa (below the surface) and are not performed through the benefit of a subpoena or other order of a court, instrumentation is not used. However, our surveyors are experienced in non-instrument-based measurements. For each site, a site report is issued detailing major violations observed.

Discovery

These are detailed, instrument-based, surveys performed under the benefit of a subpoena or court order. A final report is issued which summarizes the findings of the survey, including instruments used and their limitations. Each step is documented in the use of detailed notes and a photographically. The final report also includes recommended cures, and where requested, presented as a plan by which the facility may transition into compliance.

Litigation avoidance

For businesses that wish to serve their customers with disabilities better by proactively developing an accessibility policy, we offer a complete menu of services. We will conduct a discovery phase level survey (see above), detailing areas of noncompliance. In addition, our final report will include an approximate cost of each inadequacy and a plan for achieving compliance over whatever period our clients wish, within legal limits, of course.

Expert witness

For our clients involved in litigation, we will be available to serve an expert witness capacity in any legal proceeding that involves any of our access related studies. We will also, serve only in an expert capacity when hired to do so and where our involvement does not require us to serve in conflict with the interests of current or past clients
